Funniest night ever!!!

My roommate and I got tickets to see Craig Robinson's stand-up at Zanies Comedy Club in Vernon Hills, Illinois.

Wanting to be early, Rachel and I drove to Zanies an hour before the show began. As we walked up the sidewalk, we noticed a large crowd at the front door. Craig was standing 20 feet from me! I got super nervous as we slowly approached the front of the line.

I walked up and shook Craig's hand - then asked for him to autograph my Office DVD! He was super nice and signed the inside, not wanting to sign on anyone else's "face". It was awesome! His next words were, "I love your dimple! You got one dimple!" I think I giggled like a 14 year-old. Rachel and I got some sweet pictures...

Afterwards, a group of ten women wanted a picture with Craig. Rachel took the camera and tried to organize the madness. There was a scramble to get everyone situated - many women were not in the frame.

Rachel exclaimed, "Get in there just a little bit more!"

Craig replied, "That's what she said!"

Everyone went into hysterics! TWSS never sounded so funny.

We headed into the club after getting our meet-n-greet taken care of. The warm-up act was pretty funny. But Craig blew it out of the water. Here are some high points...

  • He LOVED the episode "Night Out" when Dwight and Michael visited Ryan in NY
  • If women get their own song during the wedding march, men should walk down the isle to the "Rocky" theme
  • Craig introduced a new birthday song he wrote that begins "You are one year closer to death..."
  • PSAs
  • "Happy and You Know it" sing-a-longs
  • Eye of the Tiger
  • Dunder Mifflin "People Person's Paper People" - and Craig sang parts of it in Spanish
  • The Office Theme
  • And many more songs...
Craig is a truly talented guy. The show was more than "dawesome"!

People were getting a bit rowdy during the act and one woman was especially loud . At one point, Craig said, "Security. Please take ____ out of here." As the security guys surrounded her chair, Craig intervened, "No, you don't have to. Just remember this moment _____." Eventually, she was escorted off the premises because she kept interrupting Craig's routine. Everyone was cheering during her exit.

The entire show was gut-bustingly funny. I hate to give any more tidbits away because you MUST see Craig for yourself to truly appreciate it... If he makes an appearance in a club near you, go see his show!
